Witchcraft Wednesday: Cleansed Witches
Greetings, witches and friends. It’s Wednesday. We’re tired. There’s a reason humpday is one of the most despised days in existence. It’s super far from the weekend (even though it’s only 2 days) and, let’s be honest, what even is a weekend anymore? Photo by jasper benning on Unsplash Anyway, it is my understanding, based on extensive research of myself and maybe 3 other people, that we’re feeling a bit stagnant. We’re feeling the lockdown vibes, we’re feeling the buildup of

Witchcraft Wednesday: Easy Homemade Magical Multi-Purpose Cleaner
Happy Wednesday, everyone! I’m back, with apologies for the delay. It’s been a bit busy / lockdown-y over here and, guess what? It’s okay not to be okay sometimes! Personally, I felt a bit overwhelmed with my PhD, teaching (via the Internet) and charity work, and unfortunately this little haven of mine suffered. But no more! So. It’s literally no secret that I don’t like cleaning. I don’t like it, I’m not good at it, and sometimes I’m annoyed that it even exists. We live in a

Boss Witch Fashion Friday: Lockdown Edition
HAPPY FRIDAY, friends! We made it through another week. If you weren’t on my email list yesterday (link below, sign up!) you might not know that I announced that I will soon be releasing the One Boss Witchcast (podcast) to give back to the library of podcasts that I am tearing through myself at the moment. It’s a funny thing being on lockdown/isolation/shielding/stay in place. For me, I know that when I’m working a lot, I just long for more than 36 hours at home to potter and

Witchcraft Wednesday: Blessing Spell for Household Peace, Health and Calm.
Okay, everyone, it’s been sh*tshow lately, am I right? We’re battling COVID-19, our jobs are thrown into uncertainty, we’re told not to leave our houses (except to exercise, according to our Prime Minister in the UK), and there is a general dark cloud of fear hanging over us. So I wanted to jump back onto the bandwagon. Life is scary right now, but I want to show up for you, because the InstaCoven is real, and we are all real people behind our Avatars (witches are people, too

Witchcraft Wednesday: What’s the Deal With Magic Wands?
Happy Witchcraft Wednesday, witches and friends! I hope you’re having a wonderful week thus far. For myself, I am recovering well from surgery (thank you for your well-wishes) and I am excited to get back into the swing of regular blog posts. As tradition has it, on Wednesday we do Witching. Today, instead of a spell, I wanted to talk about some tools of the trade – more specifically, the magic wand. What is a Wand? A wand is a long, thin and pointed object which we use in th

Imbolc for the Modern Witch
This post originally appeared on Spirit Nest, where it was a guest post. Reposted with permission. Image by Spirit Nest. On February 1st, we move into one of the sweetest, purest Sabbats of the Witch’s calendar. Imbolc celebrates the near-end of the long Winter, bringing us towards the warmer part of the year, and celebrating the sprouting of new life from the Earth. The Wiccan tradition celebrates this as the strengthening of the Sun God, as he comes into his adulthood, and

OBW x CostumierSaurus: Blindfold Spell for Eye-Opening
Costumier-Saurus Welcome to a new week, Witches! I am super, super, super excited to bring you this spell. I was talking with my friend, CostumierSaurus, about blindfolds, and what they represent. To me, being blinded is significant when there is something in our lives that is hidden, that we’re not seeing. Sometimes this could be someone close to us hiding something from us, or when there’s something that just doesn’t add up, and we’re looking for truth which is hiding behin

Witchcraft Wednesday: Witchcraft on the Go
It can be tough to be a witch when you have to work away. Or maybe you visit family a lot, or perhaps you’re a traveling brooms salesperson. I don’t know you. For me, I have to work away sometimes. And often I’m gone for between one and five days, which means I’m packing light. I only have a carry-on, and that means that I cannot, CANNOT bring my entire altar and witch kit with me. Sadly. So how do we maintain our practice when we’re on the move? If you pop over to Instagram,

Do Witches Pray?
When I was at secondary school, I was in a pretty religious environment. I went to Presbyterian and Church of England schools that brought us to chapel services weekly, had their own ministers/vicars, had compulsory religion classes and encouraged us to follow a certain doctrine. As I’ve said before, the only time I remember being really in trouble at school was when I was caught with Tarot cards and was told I was summoning the Devil. The Empress card of the Tarot deck. I di

Boss Witch: Fashion Friday
Greetings, Witches! We made it to the weekend again. What a week it’s been. Post-Samhain blues, the winding down of Halloween celebrations… and the commencement of Christmas carols playing in every store, as well as the appearance of an inexplicably enormous amount of mince pies being stocked in the supermarket. Why? Nobody even likes them. BUT with the cooler weather and the setting in of the wintry months comes the very best thing: cape season. Emma Roberts, Sarah Paulson a
